Description

ApathyWorks is me, Alex "AlejandroDaJ" Jordan, a 28 year old who lives in Washington, DC and works for the U.S. Department of Labor. I started programming and doing level design in elementary school, graduated to modding, and eventually hit the ground running with indie game design with XNA in early 2009. Cute Things Dying Violently will be my second title for Xbox Live Indie Games. While I certainly enjoy helping out workers and the unemployed at the Labor Department, my real passion lies with game design and writing, and some day I hope to do it for a living. Although it's currently just a hobby of mine, the "apathy" in my studio title is a complete misnomer that hides my desire to create worlds and experiences and to share them with others.

History

Background

Mild-mannered government employee by day and mild-mannered government employee by night as well, Alex "AlejandroDaJ" Jordan left Rhode Island at the tender age of it's time to get the hell out of Rhode Island to live and work in the nation's capital. Every now and then, he is overtaken by fits of ambition that has yet to be stomped out by cubicle drudgery. Armed with 15 years of game development knowledge, Alex has decided to stake out his corner of the indie scene by using Microsoft's XNA platform to market games for Windows and Xbox Live Indie Games. Alex started programming when he was still in elementary school and started mapping for Doom shortly thereafter. Having expanded his portfolio to include content for Duke Nukem 3D, Half-Life 1, Half-Life 2, Unreal Tournament 2004, and the Torque Game Engine

Indie Game Street Cred or some Credible Facsimile Thereof

Hmm. Let's see, I used to mod for Half-Life and cut me teeth as a mapper on the Firearms team. I modded with Half-Life 2 for a bit before deciding to take a break, and when I woke up from my game design hibernation, I decided that it was time to start working in XNA. So far, I've made a little geography quiz game called Around The World and my latest game, the Summer Uprising hit Cute Things Dying Violently.
